Water Quality Standard

Water quality standards of MWA follow the Guidelines for Drinking-Water Quality of WHO (WHO, 2006). The WHO’s guidelines include the recommended limits on the following water quality parameters: turbidity less than 5 NTU, apparent color less than 15 color units, no unpleasant taste and odor, total dissolved solids less than 1,000 mg/L, iron less than 0.3 mg/L, manganese less than 0.4 mg/L, sulfate less than 250 mg/L, chloride less than 250 mg/L, fluoride less than 1.5 mg/L, and no E.coli in 100 ml of water sample. Besides, the maximum limits of some heavy metals, pesticides, trihalomethanes, and radioactive substances are recommended.
