Mr. Kavee Areekul, Deputy Governor of the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA), revealed that MWA has reviewed the progress made on two pipeline construction projects with a total length of 15.2 km, and a combined investment cost of Bt419 million. The first project involves installation of 1,200-mm-diameter pipe along Pracharuamjai Road, from Nimitrmai Road to Mitrmaitree Road covering a length of 8.2 km at a cost of Bt208 million, which is under the program to enhance the capacity of water supplies in the water pipeline system. The second project involved installation of a 1,000-mm-diameter pipe along Khumklao Road, from Suwintawong Road to Chaokhuntaharn Road for a length of 7 km at a cost of Bt211 million, which is under the 9th Waterworks Improvement Project.

Both projects are being implemented together with the road expansion project of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) as well as the utilities installation projects of other agencies to support the expansion of housing in the area. Installation of the water pipeline is scheduled to be completed by August 2019.

Mr. Kavee added that when both projects are complete, members of the public in the Nimitrmai and Suwintawong areas will receive clean and safe drinking water up to the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO) as well as the water pressure will be improved. Around 16,000 people will benefit from the two projects. However, MWA apologizes for any inconvenience caused during the construction period and will coordinate closely with relevant agencies to ensure that the work proceeds smoothly with as little disturbance to the public and traffic flow as possible.
